Sonnets of the heart!

by Joel Akin

Over the years I have attempted to write poetry. Though I may never be a Robert Frost or Emily Dickenson still I find there is a part of me that likes to write. My English Professor, Dr. Woods, once said to me that my poetry is actually prose. True poetry is descriptive rather then just a phrasing of emotions. Never the less, it is my hope that some of these words and phrases will capture your heart, your imagination and be a blessing to you. Lets start out with “The Wind Blows”

The Wind Blows

Though the wind blows

across the sea

only the foaming waves

prove its strength to me

but someday I shall find

a place I can call my own

where my feet are firmly planted

with my loved one in my home

The wind will not shake

no waves toss me sore

the rain will not pelt me

I’ll feel pain no more

God will be my comfort

His spirit will safely guide

and though life’s trials tempt me

under his wings I shall hide.
